The purpose of this training program is to help road authorities understand what can be done to help them meet their Decade of Action commitment to reduce fatalities by 50 percent by 2020. The programme of the 2015 Post Graduate Course will be largely following on the successful 2014, 2013 and 2012-programme (Link to Brochure). Because DRSC and FIA Foundation have entered into a partnership as of December 2014, key assets of the FIA Foundation Road Safety Leadership Initiative will be included in the 2015 programme. The course will focus on organizational subjects (policy development, agenda and target setting, implementation of action plans, financing, research programmes) and safety measures in the area of engineering, enforcement, education and trauma care. 

A central question to be dealt with is how to implement the principles that underpin the so-called Safe Systems approach in LIMC’s.

From September until December 2015 the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB) of Hasselt University will organise its third international training programme on road safety. This programme is entitled “Road Safety in Low and Middle Income Countries: Challenges and Strategies for Improvement”. It is co-funded by the VLIR-UOS (Flemish InterUniversity Board – University Development Cooperation). Content During the ITP, 3 major topics will be dealt with:Infrastructure and mobility; Behaviour; Road safety policy.
